Chelsea delivered an attacking clinic in their 6-2 demolition of Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux yesterday, giving new manager Enzo Maresca his first Premier League victory in spectacular style. After a disappointing start to the season with a loss to Manchester City, the Blues bounced back with a performance that showcased their firepower, led by a sensational hat-trick from Noni Madueke.

The tone was set almost immediately as Nicolas Jackson headed Chelsea in front just two minutes in, capitalizing on a poor clearance by Wolves. However, the hosts showed resilience and drew level through Matheus Cunha’s fierce strike midway through the first half, capitalizing on a Chelsea mistake. Wolves evened the score again in stoppage time before the break, with Jorgen Strand Larsen poking home from close range after some sloppy Chelsea defending.

But the second half belonged entirely to Chelsea, or more specifically, to Madueke and Cole Palmer. Palmer assisted all three of Madueke’s goals, which came in a devastating 15-minute spell that left Wolves’ defense in tatters. Madueke’s first came with a deflected shot off Rayan Ait-Nouri, and he followed up with two clinical finishes that both threaded through Wolves’ goalkeeper José Sá.

João Félix, making his Chelsea debut after his permanent move from Atletico Madrid, added a final flourish, smashing in the Blues’ sixth goal to cap off a stunning team performance.

While Chelsea’s attacking display was electric, there are still concerns at the back, as they have now conceded four goals in their opening two games. Nevertheless, Maresca will be pleased with his side’s offensive cohesion, particularly the blossoming partnership between Palmer and Madueke, which could prove pivotal as Chelsea seek to improve on last season’s disappointing campaign.
